Art 2 students created podcasts that demonstrate both their research and critical thinking skills based on the Five Reasons Art Is Created. Visual art, around the world and over the centuries, has been created and continues to be created for the following 5 Reasons: Aesthetics, Historical, Spiritual, Political and Morals/Ethics. Based on this lesson and our discussion during class, students needed to choose an artwork that would best demonstrate each category while visiting online museum galleries like the Museum of Modern Art and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. These students used critical thinking skills to find the most appropriate artworks to match the criteria and further investigated each piece.
